How to make an Appointments

Telephone
You can ring the GP doctor's surgery number on 020-8881-9606 during our opening hours

In person
You can attend the surgery in person and making an appointment also during working hours

Online
We have introduced online booking using patient EMIS access. For your login and details ask reception (1week after registering)

Appointments can be made up to 2-3 weeks in advance. Please notify the receptionist a brief history of your complaint so that they can notify the doctor prior to your visit. They may also be able to guide you to the most suitable appointment i.e. with a doctor or nurse



Extended hour appointments via Haringey Hub - 0330 053 9499 (ring during opening hrs)

Haringey CCG has commissioned the Federated4Health to offer extended hour and weekend appointments at 4 locations around Haringey. If you require an appointment with a GP or nurse then you can request from the surgery an appointment. The clinician has full access to your medical records and letters. the 4 sites are:

- Somerset Gardens Health Centre, 4 Creighton rd, N178NW

- Bounds Green Group Practice, Gordon Rd, N11 2PF

- Tynemouth Medical Practice, Tynemouth Rd, N15 4RH

- Queenswood Medical Practice, 151 Park Rd, N8 8JD


Appointments in the hubs are available from 

Monday to Friday:      6:30pm – 8:30pm
Saturday and Sunday: 8:00am to 8:00pm

However, opening hours will vary between the practices. Anyone who is registered with a GP in Haringey can access the appointments at any and all of the hubs. To make an appointment, you should call the surgery or ring 0330 053 9499 (hub appts) who will be able to see the available appointments in the hubs and book an appointment for you.



Cancelling your Appointments
If you cannot keep your appointment with the Doctor or Nurse, please call the surgery number in good time. This enables us to offer your appointment to someone else. If patients fail to cancel their appointment, this not only wastes valuable Doctor and Nursing time, but prevents others who suffer from medical illness from being seen. Please cancel your appointment as soon as possible at least 24 hours prior to your appointment i.e. cancelling an appointment for Tuesday 10:50am you must SMS before Monday 10:50am for your appointment to be cancelled automatically. Failure to attend or cancel your appointment will result in a DNA - did not attend. Late cancellation does make it harder to replace your slot with someone else

SMS
You can SMS back the surgery and reply 'CANCEL' when you get an SMS for your appt. (You must cancel more than 24 hours before your appt via SMS to work)

Urgent Appointments
The surgery offers facilities for patients to be seen urgently as an emergency. However, these same day appointments are for emergency / urgent cases only where patients are at direct risk to their health. If you book a same day or urgent appointment please attend promptly. Booking one and then DNAing without reason, is taken seriously by the practice. 

If your condition is non-urgent then we would recommend utilising a routine appointment up to two weeks in advance if this is more convenient to you. Administrative issues such as medical sick notes are not deemed medical emergencies.



Emergencies
If you are suffering from severe chest pains, suspect a heart attack, have suffered from a serious injury, heavy blood loss or experience severe breathing difficulties or suspect that you are having a stroke it may be more appropriate to contact 999 for an ambulance rather than seeking your GP. 
If the surgery is closed: 
  • For less than an emergency please contact the surgery during opening hours
  • After 6:30pm until 8 am please follow the advice given on the answering machine or contact NHS 111
  • For all other times please contact 0208 865 0350.

Alternatively, you may attend at a local NHS Walk-in-Centres: Please speak with the receptionist for further information above any of the above services.

Extended hours
We are currently offering a new service for our patients. We are able to offer Doctors appointments from 6:30 pm until 8pm on Monday and Friday each week. These usually appointments with our nurse as well. These are for pre-booked appointments only and not for urgent or emergency requests. Any patient requiring urgent attention should utilise the out of hours service i.e. NHS 111.

Home Visits
Home visits requests are for housebound or frail patients or for those too ill to come to the surgery. We recommend requests to made before 10:00 am where possible so that the surgery can accommodate your request. Please provide as much detail as possible and leave your contact details. A doctor may contact you back to decide if and when a home visit is required. Home visits are not ideal arrangements, as it is often better to treat someone in our well equipped surgery, and a visit takes significantly longer than a surgery consultation.




Dental Appointments
If you have an urgent dental problem e.g. toothache or a dental abscess it would be more prudent to see your dentist and not your GP as they are not specialised in teeth care. You should contact your regular dentist and seek an urgent appointment with them. If they are close you should contact the phone number left on their answer machine to access local dental emergency services. If you have difficulties accessing them please contact NHS 111. General advice can be found from the British dental health foundation (BDHF)


Hospital Appointments
The doctor may have referred you to either a community service or hospital for an appointment. Often it can take a few weeks for them to contact you by post. Please ensure that the practice has your most unto date details including address and phone number as incorrect details can results in letters being sent to the wrong address. If you have not heard from them within a reasonable time frame (i.e. 4weeks) consider contacting the provider directly or speak to our receptionist to ensure the referral has been made. If the referral has been sent by the GP, then it is best to try and chase the appointment directly than booking an appointment with the GP to inform them of the delay. For most hospital appointments, your GP has limited ability to bring them forward unfortunately.
